What a great explanation of BULLYING

A teacher in New York was teaching her class about bullying and gave them the following exercise to perform. She had the children take a piece of paper and told them to crumple it up, stamp on it and really mess it up but do not rip it. Then she had them unfold the paper, smooth it out and look at how scarred and dirty it was. She then told them to tell it they’re sorry. Now even though they said .........they were sorry and tried to fix the paper, she pointed out all the scars they left behind. And that those scars will never go away no matter how hard they tried to fix it. That is what happens when a child bully’s another child, they may say they’re sorry but the scars are there forever. The looks on the faces of the children in the classroom told her the message hit home. Pass it on or better yet, if you're a parent or a teacher, do it with your child/children, I will be.

Just thought I'd share it, that's all :)

Twiddleybitz Big Day Out Bus

I have looked into several other options including a mini bus, however, it is with a 'sad panda face' that I let you know we do not have enough people signed-up to make it happen... this time round. We will be advertising another bus trip for Rosehill Craft Show in March 2012.

What to do when you need a title???? I dunno.... just let it sit there and wait for something to come to you.... or blog it and ask random visitors for advice.... lol, I'll try anything once (well...almost anything) hehehe
I was thinking something like "Mr & Ms Serious" basically because they both look very serious, but that doesn't seem very inventive...... I'm stuck.

Another Savvy Delights Retreat page

Sarah and Sandra organized this really cool challenge, I think they called it 'Scrap Snap'.
Now, I'm not a great 'challenge participant' because I am a serious 'snail scapper', but it was a lot of fun and I'm glad I participated.
Here is how it is played; there is an equal number of people and an equal number of matching playing cards. The participants chose their own photo and write a little about it on the back (e.g. title, who what when where...). When every one is ready, you need to find the person with the matching playing card and swap photos then scrap a layout. But there is a catch... you have to scrap the layout in an hour...... did they tell me that before I signed up for the challenge??? well maybe they did, but I was very tired from staying up til 3am (as you do when you are at retreat!! hehehe)
Anyhooo, there are some pretty serious names at the retreat: Lisa Oxley, Wendy Smith, Susan Longman, Kim Arnold, Emma Allen, Lisa Warren, Sarah herself and Sandra, Sara Noendeng, Anthea Peterson, Nay and Gilly... just to name a few..... not all of them participated, but I didn't really think it through who I might end up swapping with.... eeeekkkk.... pressure much??? nah!!! hehehe
Lisa Oxley swapped with Kim Arnold - how scary and awesome is that at the same time??!! two magnificent scrappy artists, from different scrappy worlds meet. But they both pulled it off magnificently!! I admire that, when you are happy with your own style, with all their confidence AND still respect and appreciate another style.
So who did I swap photo's with?????......Drum roll ...... Lisa Warren... hooley dooley..

Apart from freaking out for the first 15 minutes, I did get the layout done in an hour 20mins (now that has to be a record for me!!) ... AND I was pretty darn happy with it in the end.
Lisa was a champion (of course hehehe) and finished under the hour :)

Scrapped this at the Savvy Delights Retreat the other week.
These warmer spring days gave me a hankering for a visit to the Rockpool..... however this rain has put more than a dampener (hahaha) on that urge. So typical of school holidays too!!!

Lovin' my Tim Holtz Kraft paper pad..... mmmm mmmm ;)

This is my daughter calling her Oma (thats Dutch for 'Grandmother') and asking her to come over our house. She loves her Oma very much and gets quite upset sometimes when she can't come visit.
Not sure if you can see it in the photo, but there is another 2 handsets on the step next to her. She would finish a conversation on one handset, then pick the next one up and ring someone else and so on. Too cute I say :)

I made this page at Camp Mojo.... yes I know it was almost 4 weeks ago lol and there is a few more pages to come.... but time is... is.... well there just isn't enough hours in the day.....

(On a side note, whenever I say that or hear someone else say it, I wonder what our parents and grandparents would think. DYKWIM??? I mean I have a dishwasher and a dryer, my parents/grandparents certainly didn't..... anyhoo I digress...)

You could say that time is as expensive as banana's at the moment!! :(

So......Slowly recovering from Mojo as well as the aftermath of entering Masters. ugh yes Masters lol

I was definitely going to enter this year,

then I was,

then I heard something really disappointing about Masters while at mojo, so I wasn't,

then I did.

And I'm glad I did now.

Sea change

One of my layouts from Camp Mojo.
This one got a lot of raised eye brows from the ladies at the camp lmbo
A lot of questions if this was my Husband, but no, it is my BIL lol.
This funny, clown, ratbag of a man, took my Sister away from Sydney and
moved to Coffs Harbour :(
They have settled in really well to the sea side and both of them have
landed on their feet job wise. Even the kids are enjoying it.... but I still
miss our visits and the 8hr drive just isn't the same as a day visit to
Sydney :(
On the other hand, its a great excuse to go on holiday to Coffs Harbour :)
:) :) and I'm very happy for them that they are indeed happy and making it
work.

Twiddleybitz May Sketch & Quote Challenge

I'm a bit late in posting this buuuuttttt I wont bore you with the details... just that it is Sandra Wallaces fault... hehehe

May challenge over at Twiddleybitz.ning.com was to use the sketch as well as the 'She' Quotes.

If you are familiar with Christina Thomlinson's 'She Art' this was a little different, an extra twist if you like. The quotes went that little further than the positive affirmations, they are more 'present tense' (instead of past tense) and are about celebrating ones strengths.

I had a hard time choosing which one to use. Honestly I could spend my entire year of scrapbooking using these quotes about my favourite peeps :D

I didn't get to finish my Mojo challenge, so I combined it with the Twiddleybitz Challenge... I thought for a moment I was cheating lol but I'm going with being 'efficient' hehehe

Lots of gesso and texture paste, with 3 different colour sprays (I've used Crafty Notions Colour Sprays), fibres, 1 photo, metal... and I've added a bit of the good 'ol Twiddleybitz chipboard!! a mega load of Iridescent medium, Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Glam --> it positively **sparkles** hehehe

Before I get on with the show, apologies about the poor quality photos, the weather has been aweful and grey and dull and rainy.... bleauch.. oh well...

Yes it's true.... and here they are;

Being a bit of a novice at ATC's I used the scrap piece I cut off my May KIU LO - I just wanted to have a play and see where things went.

I'm pretty happy with them cause it was all 'play'. I had no pre-conceptions about what I wanted them to look like, my mind was completely blank AND (amazingly) I didn't stress about it!

My favorite is the Viva La Flora ==> can I get anymore of my favorite products in a 2.5x3.5 space!!???

-> Twiddleybitz chippie
-> Crafty notions colour spray
-> Rachel Greg Darkroom Door stamps (yellow alphabet stamp in the background, dragonfly and short daisy's) and one of her 'word chip's

WW1 May Challenge

Here is my "White With 1" Challenge.

The challenge for May was to use Orange and Scallops.

Loved using the chalk on the background and I had a little chuckle at myself when I accidentally put orange finger marks on one edge - telling myself to 'let go of the control freak' I did and went a bit 'freaky' with it.... AND I am actually liking the end result.... insert shock horror face! hehehe

I know, I know my own worst critic... sigh... :)

I have soooo many half done challenges this month, I have been organising my son's 9th Birthday Party. That's all done and dusted for another year, so fingers crossed I get a day or two this week to finish them off... late but better late than never is what my Nanna use to say :)

I just had a wonderful class with Nathalie Kalbach....

If you don't know about her jump over to her blog here.

Nathalie is a Tattered Angels Golden Ambassador Certified Educator and Designer (yes that is a mighty mouth full huh!?) and a totally awesome one at that....WOW what a fantastic teacher she is!. I went to Mistified last year and that was nothing compared Nathalie.... I got SOOO much more out of 2 hours with Nathalie than I did in an entire day at Mistified..... oh I could gush all day long lol

If you have the time for a class jump on over to The Creative Journey blog, but you will have to be really quick, because I think she only has a couple of classes left and will be leaving to return to Germany pretty soon.
Oh and while you are looking at The Creative Journey, have a squiz at the sneak peeks for Graphic45 classes... Oh my goodness these are not classes to be missed!!

A LO I did last September while on a weekend away with my sister and another friend at Port Stevens.
I look at it now and feel its a bit naked... and flat.... weird how you style and comfort zone can evolve even over a matter of months....

And here I was thinking my style hadn't evolved at all lol

Next time I get this feeling, I'll go flick backward a couple of months through my pages!

To say I am excited is an understatement, I'm actually very VERY excited to have the opportunity to teach two scrapbooking classes at Catchy Crafts.

You can find Catchy Crafts at Hornsby (New South Wales).

If you haven't been to their store I really suggest you make the time, because it is a fantastic store with loads of stock for card makers, scrapbooking and most other paper crafts. I was blown away when I walked into their store

Here are some sneak peaks of the two classes.

Both classes are running on Saturday March 19th.

Morning class is a Twiddleybitz Floating Frame using Websters Patterned Papers;

If you adore Websters PP's but are not quite sure how to use them, then this is the class for you ;)

Title: "Timeless"

The afternoon class is a double page layout using My Minds Eye: Lost & Found patterned papers.

Now I'm not the biggest fan of MME papers (meaning I like them but I don't hunt them down like I do with Basic Grey), but when I saw these, my eyes popped out of my head and I fell to my knees!!! lol

They are just de-lish-ous!!! Totally romantic, but not gushy (iykwim). Nicely balanced I like to think :)

This is a great layout for your recent Valentines pic's but is adaptable to any 'love' them pictures.

I've taken the plunge.....

Yep I've plunged myself into an art journal, but I'm a little.... whats the word... ambivalent??? have mixed feelings.... a little skeptical... excited.... just to name a few.
I think its a great concept, but screw the idea of only spending 10 minutes a day! I can't go to the loo by myself without interruptions lol who says I have 10 minutes!!!

Also found this place today, which I like like like Creative Therapy (link is also on the side bar). I think I will go through the list and use them as prompts to hopefully get me into the "groove" :)

Anyhoo like I said I think it is a great, really great concept, but my challenge is to find something that works for me.

These things I know for certain;

I don't get to scrap/create e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y. - if I had the choice I would.! All day! Everyday! buuuttt you know the drill; house work calls and family comes first.... some days I wish they'd just piss off all together lol but I wouldn't replace them for anything in the universe.
I cannot 'create' in 10 minutes. Some of my layouts take an entire week from start to finish - yes I'm a bit retentive (notice I didn't say anal!!) and quite deliberate... sigh.....
I find journalling excruciating at the best of times.... sigh....

Summation: Finding something that works for me!
So these are my ~~intentions~~ goals;

Make an entry/page into the journal at least 3 times a week. Aim 5 times per week.
Finish the entry/page on the day I start it (I have waaaay to many half complete projects)

If I'm stuck for words, just document the story/event. Better a record of the event than non at all!
Be kind to myself if I don't get around to it - its soooo easy for me to guilt myself out of doing something, so just accept (which is also my 'word' for this year) that I will struggle to get around to it some days/weeks and just pick it up when I get back to it.
As much as I love dimension on pages, explore more minimalism and negative space
Experiment more with; Colour; Pencils: Paints: Textiles.

So that is my contract with myself. I'm sure i will add/subtract things to that list, but it is a start!
I did manage to start my art journal while we were on holidays, and I'm pretty pleased that I made it that far (credit where credit is due right!!??!!). Now I'd just like to f.i.n.i.s.h. those darn pages I started lol AND keep it going this week :)

First of all is this Christmas Wreath.

The diameter is about 15inches & I (ahum) ‘adapted’ a Funky Attic House along with a Gate Wall and a Mary & Joseph Nativity scene. Also a “Falala” word, a long Fancy Flourish, a mirror star & a star ornament.

I’d been saving these Basic Grey papers for soooo long and thought it was about time they got used!!

Next is a Christmas Tree Centre Piece with some "Tweenies" and more Christmas Ornaments.

I made 'shelves' out of laminated sheets, cut them into a 'donut' like shape then cut a slit in the side so I could wrap them around the tree. I tried stacking more Ferrero Rochers, but they were a little heavy, so I used 'minties' because they are red green & white :) :) :)

The wreath has been heat embossed with Crafty Notions Embossing enamels (yummy!!)

I took the kids to one of those play centres where I thought they could play them selves ragged and I could scrap.... only thing is I forgot half my tools - the important ones too!! paper cutter, metal ruler, cutting mat, pencil case.... what a disaster... lol

Jeeeeez loooooeez..... I can't believe its been a month since my last post... lol that sounds a bit like a confession... hehe

oh well... que sera sera is my motto this week. Just been one of those weeks/months were I'm trying to do too much at the same time... sigh.....

OMG I LOOOOVE this 'German Glass' (got it from Scraploot)Note to self: Don't huff & puff the itty bitty bitz off your page or workspace as they get in your eye & down your bra and cause considerable discomfort!!! lol (no I'm not kidding)

Saved my favorite for last. Another TCR Colour combo.
This was Palette #1 - I know it was a while ago, but I had to go hunting for this photo LOL.
Those pants are a perfect match to the colour combo.

Had some super fun with this one!!!!!
I used "fantasy film" (from Fred The Needle) on the wings (one word YUMO!!)
& white opaque UTEE on the mannequin, then stamped with a Tim Holtz flourish.
Then tied some Green Tara paper string around her waiste. Will certainly be using this technique again soon :) :) :) :) :)

Diving into my Prima stash

Honestly I have soooo much product, I need to stop buying and start creating!!!
Completed 3 LO's yesterday, but I especially love this one - not because I am bias toward Prima products (not at all :P ), but mainly because it really pushed my comfort zone.... to use flowers & butterfly's on a boy page lol
I used the Prima June BAP and TCR Palette #10 and some Twiddleybitz skelton trees (so versatile!).

AND I crocheted the heart! Can you believe it?!! I'm pretty impressed with myself (Thanks for the links Sandra.... oh and the new addiction lol)

Make&Take at Scissors Paper Smock

I am sooooo excited to tell you that I have been invited to teach at Scissors Paper Smock!!! yaaaaay. Normally I'm a fairly introverted person and I often where my happiness is on the inside, but I am doing a 'happy dance' with this news... literally doing a happy dance!

I haven't met the owners irl, however they saw my work at SIA this year and have been ever so nice to invite me over to play :-D

Twiddley Trio Challenge (June)

Head over to Twiddleybitz on ning and have a go at the June challenge.
The challenge is to use 3 or more pieces of Twiddleybitz chipboard on the one project (card, layout or OTP).

However I will RAK the first person (some more TBZ and something a little extra) to use 5 or more pieces on the one project (title will only count as 1 piece, unless you use different 'fonts' - each font will count as 1 piece).

So how does that sound???

First thing I want to say is 60% off over at 3 Angels Scrapping, now that has got to put a smile on your face :-D

Second thing I want to say is I'm withdrawing myself from Face Book.....
Its been 24 hours since I last signed off...... PMSL..... Hubby said he felt like he was always talking to my iPhone. He wanted to know if he should 'write on my wall' :-( ... poobuggerbumweeboohoo
Sooo, I've decided that it takes up too much of my time & energy... especially energy. It is suppose to be a place to be "social", but lately it just seems like a place for some people to..... it is a place to be anti-social, so its about time I put my foot down {insert stomping sound}.
I'm re-prioritizing and I'm re-focusing on my 'word' for this year which is "consistent" ....

Oh one more thing (ok so there was 3 things to say) big hugs & kisses to all who have left messages of kindness. It really warms my heart to know that such kind hearted people really do exist in the world. A world where nasty people get enjoyment from others pain and think its acceptable and helpful to say things like 'grow up' (yeah, you know who you are)...... I'm flipping you the 'bird' (there! how is that for grown up!).........

Classes at Pages2Scrap are continuing.

Coming up this week, I am showing people how to use their sewing machine on a layout with a 'patch work' effect... lol I hear you say "why would you use a sewing machine on a layout!!!?".... well, the short answer is that it looks fab-u-lous!! :-)
My sample is very basic, but I will show you a few different ways to incorporate the sewing machine stitching and patchwork effects on a layout.
This class is running on Wednesday, May 12th at 10.30am. Cost is $25 and everything is included in the kit. Call us on 1300 664 228 to confirm your place.

Here is my sample. Next week Wednesday May 19th at 10.30am is 'Shabby Baby'. I'll be showing you another flower technique. I've used a baby photo, but this would also suite a heritage/vintage photo.

OK OK so its about time that I made an update....

Yup..... its been a long time, truth is I'm just time deficient.... and as Dee once said.... "couldn't be fagged"... lol

So whats been happening.....

Well December saw some very long day's working at the Santa Photo's @ Westfields Tuggerah - bringing to light a new definition of being tired... you could say it was in the same ball park as 'having a new born, tired'... oh well. It was fun while it lasted & the $$$ helped alot.....

right up until.....

We were robbed!! yes, yes I said it. Happened December 30th - what a way to say goodbye to one decade & hello to another.... Amongst a lot of other things they got my camera. Sure, sure we are fully insured, but the thieving druggo basteds (yes I just swore) got every single photo from December, including 3 days of Christmas photo's with the family....
A short message for the people who intruded the sanctuary of our home & shattered my little boys sense of security; Shyt-for-brains, go get a job and start making some *smart* life decision...
Every other night he comes to us having had a bad dream about robbers in our home..... scumbags.

On a lighter note (vent over & done with), January & February have just whisked by - I cannot believe it is March 1st!!! (and my birthday in 20 days!! hehehe)

January was 'Scrap your stash' over at 3 Angels Scrapping. Rules were that you had to use your stash and the only thing you were allowed to buy was cardstock. I was great to see some much being created.

This one is 'lifted' from Leeanne Pearce (I wasn't very inventive, but you get my drift)

Warning. Warning. Sarcasm Alert..... You see.... Simon thought it would be funny to take-the-mickey (sp?) out of me and buy me an Edward Cullen doll for Christmas..... so I made this LO as a little bit of payback (hehehe)

Somewhere in there, we had a Twiddleybitz Trade day. I got to meet some truly beautiful ladies: Sherry Mendoza, Tiff Sawyer & Tracy Wildman... and and and.... I met a Master IRL!! Sarah Gladman. It was a totally enjoyable day, I'm so glad I made the trip to Sydney.

February was "Love month" @ 3 Angels Scrapping lots of things Valentines.
Here are some of my creations....

I "have" done an OTP (honest Gov!!), but can't seem to track down one of those little zutter bind-it-all systems.... I'll just have to pull my finger out (gosh did I just say that???!!), be resourceful and find another way to bind it!!! lol

What else in Feb.... went scrapping at Pages 2 Scrap with my bestest scrapping buddy Ms Henly & Judy. We went to a Glimmer Mist class with the very talented Alex. I am officially addicted to this stuff ... again... lol

I met the very talented Lisa Oxley (briefly on Friday) on Saturday Night at Pages 2 Scrap scrapathon. I first saw her work (AND fell in love with it) at papercraft mail box, but never got to meet her. Saw some of her work again on Saturday.... and she is just sooooo talented & inspiring.... right up there with Leeanne Pearce in my opinion!!! lol

Keep watching the TwiddleyBitz blog for my tutorial (early March). I'm very excited about this one. Can't show you here, but I'm very happy with the end result... don't you love it when you finish a project and it is nothing like you set out for, but your still happy with the result????.... gotta love that hehehe

Oh and a very special congratulations to the very talented Tiff Sawyer for being appointed as TwiddleyBitz Design Team Co-ordinator for Eastern Australia & International. You'll be fantastic in this position - so excited for you luvy!!!

There are usually 24 horses in the race (barr any scratchings) so there will be 24 tickets.
